Overall Review

excellent tyre for the price. i got these for my Superduke before doing a 4000 mile round trip of scotland. wanted something for long distance and also good in the wet. i wasnt prepared to fork out large wads of cash for michelins, continentals, or pirellis. really good in the wet. and they warm up really quickly. you can even see the 3D ridges working when the tyre has warmed up.

Strengths

excellent in the wet warm up quickly confidence inspiring much cheaper than the bigger brands long lasting / high mileage

Weaknesses

i think the front may be wearing faster than the rear perhaps not as good as the latest models from other reputable brands

Overall Review

Great tyre for any big Hyper Tourer. I'll fit them again for sure, though due to their long life I'm not expecting to have to do that till way past 8000 miles, maybe a lot more. Very pleased with them :o)

Strengths

Fitted them to my Blackbird shortly before heading to Spain and France for a week long tour. 1600 miles later I was exceptionally pleased with my choice. Now after over 4000 miles I'm even happier as they are showing no sign of squaring off, or of much wear overall. Grip in the wet is also superb, no signs of even vaguely thinking of letting go. I do ride softer when it's wet, but still progressively, and the tyres inspire confidence.

Weaknesses

Really can't think of any!

Overall Review

Well priced tyre for the larger bike with great wet and dry performance.

Strengths

Warms up fairly quickly with no concerns of grip. They have been put through a few scratchig runs with no conerns or oh Sh!t moments. Wet weather is great, trust me recently they have been tested fully in this area. Havent suffered from any unwarranted spin up on spirited pull offs that I have had with other tyres claiming to extend range

Weaknesses

Took a fantastic amount of wieght to balance, no issues thus far (no its not the wheel before you start Angel GT's I have been using prior balanced fine). The look you get from other bikers when you state you are using Avons.

Overall Review

Very impressive wear rate given I paid less for them than other I have tried and have lasted a lot longer. The grip levels are comparable to the competition with the use I give them, progressive riding often two up. The only down side is the steering wobble when banked over, was hoping Avon had cured this with the change of tread pattern compared to the Storm2, which also generated a steering wobble something I not experienced with Bridgestone T30, BT023, Metzeler Z6 or Metzeler Lazertecs. The jury is still out on whether I will fit another pair or not or if I could recommend them to another Pan European rider which is a pity as they have lasted well, normally I achieve about 3.8 p a mile wear rate these so far are doing 2.1 p a mile (if I were to change them now). I f you are looking for value for money with decent grip wet or dry then these are worth considering.

Strengths

Long lasting tyre, been on my Pan European now for 8k and not yet half worn, normally other tyres have long since worn out by 6.5k. Fast warm up no dramas on cold wet morning runs to work. Good feed back as well, you can really tell what the tyre is up to. Rides well with a pillion and luggage, which is a real test for rear tyre. Powering out of a corner two up puts a fair amount of load through the rear, but it never even feels near slipping or breaking away, very impressed. Good value, I paid £170 for a pair, normally pay £210-£230 (unusual size on the rear of the old Pan) and have lasted.

Weaknesses

Has a nasty habit of generating a steering wobble at around 30-40 mph especially when banked over quite far, ie fast roundabouts it can be quite un-nerving at times. I experienced a similar issue with the Avon Storm 2, I have never experienced this on any other make. Rear tyre is now starting to show signs of cupping, not unusual though, had this with other makes. The steering wobble is the only gripe I have with them so stops me giving them 5 stars, shame really as they are good value
