Ducati has revealed a stripped-back Monster Dark edition, which gains V2 power and a special launch price.

The new variant joins the standard Monster - available in Ducati Red, Iceberg White, or Sport Livery options - however, it undercuts the Ducati Red version by £1,400.

These savings grow even further compared to the Iceberg White option (£1,600) and the Sport Livery variant (£1,900).

Available as an A2-licence motorcycle, Ducati says the Monster Dark “represents the most natural way to enter the Monster family and the Ducati world”, which is highlighted in the launch price.

The new model, which gains special features such as a single-material seat, blacked-out wheels, an unpainted front frame, exhaust end caps and air-intake snorkel, plus static turn indicators, will land in UK dealerships from November.

Mechanically, the new version is unchanged from the standard Monster, meaning it continues to be powered by the company’s 890cc V2.

Maximum power is claimed to be 111hp (109bhp) at 9,000rpm, while torque comes in at 67.1 Ib-ft at 7,250rpm.

The bike weighs 175kg without fuel offering savings of 4kg compared to the previous model. The premium spec sheet continues with Brembo M4.32 calipers, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, and Showa suspension both front and rear.

Four riding modes form part of the bike’s makeup, includoing Sport, Road, Urban and Wet, while a latest-generation electronics package comprises a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU), offering Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Engine Brake Control (EBC).
