Updated BMW CE 04 gets new colours and optional mods
BMW has given its premium electric scooter a colour overhaul as well as introducing optional equipment for the CE 04.

A raft of new optional mods can now be added to the new BMW CE 04 electric scooter, while the German manufacturer has also given it fresh colours as part of a light update.
The updated mods list is extensive, with a centre stand, anti-theft alarm, e-call (intelligent emergency call system), heated grips and a quick charger all included. Buyers can also opt for weather protection, with a large windshield, and integrated hand protectors now available. BMW will also offer a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), power reduction for A1 licences (ECE only) and a new comfort seat. The dynamic CE 04 package also includes Headlight Pro, an LED daytime running light, adaptive headlight, ABS Pro and DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), and an additional Dynamic riding mode.
Helping the BMW CE 04 gain its ‘premium’ status in the electric scooter world is its 31kW (41.4bhp) motor. In a speed test, carried out from a standing start, the CE 04 can allegedly reach 50km/h (31mph) in 2.6 seconds, while its top speed is a claimed 120 km/h (74.5bhp).

The new BMW CE 04 features a battery cell capacity of 8.9 kWh, giving it a range of around 80 miles, while the reduced output (A1) version will get you 62 miles. The scooter features a magnet electric motor that’s mounted inside the frame between the battery and rear wheel, which is the same set-up used in BMW cars such as the 225xe Active Tourer.
Similar to the ASC system found on BMW motorcycles with combustion engines, traction control is also available on the updated BMW CE 04. ASC (Automatic Stability Control) is in place to limit the engine’s torque depending on the rear wheel slip. DTC, which is available as an option, provides further safety.
The main frame of the two-wheeler is made of tubular steel, and the front wheel is controlled by a telescopic fork. Suspension and damping are performed by a directly controlled, fully covered spring strut, mounted to the swingarm at the rear. The BMW CE 04 is fitted with a 120/70 R15 67H tyre at the front and 160/60 R15 56H at the rear.

At the front, a twin disc brake set-up is supported by a single-disc system at the rear. In addition, BMW includes two-channel ABS as standard on the bike, although ABS Pro is available as an optional extra.
The BMW CE 04 comes fitted as standard with a 10.25-inch TFT colour screen, which allows for integrated map navigation and connectivity. For the first time, the new 10.25-inch colour screen makes it possible to display navigational mapping in the instrument cluster, so no additional display is needed. The lighting units on the BMW CE 04 are LED, while the rear lighting also gets the same LED technology, as do the indicators.
On to the colours, the CE 04 gets the Basic variant, which features a Lightwhite uni colour that’s combined with a black-grey seat and clear windshield. The Avantgarde variant features a Gravity blue metallic matt across its body, combined with a colour BMW calls ‘Sao Paulo yellow’. Completing the look is a Pro seat in black/light grey with yellow and white tapes, a yellow-tinted windshield, and a laser-engraved rear wheel rim.

The Exclusive variant features the Spacesilver metallic body colour, and also features increased wind and weather protection in the form of a large windshield with integrated hand protectors and heated grips. It also has a laser-engraved rear wheel rim on one side, a comfort seat with seat heating, new upholstery fabric and ‘CE 04’ embroidery across the fairing at the rear.
Including VAT, the price for the new CE 04 starts at £12,190.
