John McGuinness 30th Anniversary Isle of Man TT Honda Fireblade announced
As John McGuinness celebrates 30 years of TT competition, Honda has rolled out a very exclusive special edition Fireblade to mark the occasion.
Honda has revealed a new special edition Fireblade, honouring John McGuinness as he celebrates 30 years of competing at the front of the world’s greatest motorcycle road race.
Called the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP JM 30th Anniversary, the bike is strictly limited to just 15 units, and is a detailed recreation of the bike McGuinness rode in this year’s TT races.
But even that machine isn’t the start of this bike's paintjob’s story.
The bike that kick-started McPint’s career was the Paul Bird Motorsport-liveried Honda RS250, which he rode to 15th position in 1996.
It was three years later that McGuinness won his first TT, the Lightweight 250 race, again riding a Honda but this time a TSR250.
Mechanically, the bike is as per the standard Fireblade SP, meaning you get semi-active and electronically adjustable Ohlins suspension and Brembo braking hardware.
Electronically, it boasts a six-axis IMU, meaning cornering ABS, traction control and wheelie control, while the engine boasts the same 214bhp as the stock bike.
On top of that, the new special edition boasts the faithfully recreated paintjob, a numbered plaque on the top clamp, a TT-spec tall screen, seat cowl and a HRC oil filler cap, GB Racing engine covers, an Evotech radiator guard, brake lever guard and paddock stand bobbins.
It also comes with some off-bike special edition trinkets, including a 30th anniversary garage mat and a 30th anniversary paddock stand.
Those lucky enough to bag one of the new special editions will also bag a replica KYT helmet, created in the same livery that John used for his 30th anniversary TT.
The bikes are being sold by invite only, which we expect means they are being reserved for customers who already have extensive collections of special bikes bearing the Honda name. We do, though, know that it’ll be costing £37,730.
