2027 Kawasaki W230 gains new colour, but price remains the same
Kawasaki’s attempts to make further headway in the modern classic segment have resulted in the W230 gaining a new colourway for 2027.
Kawasaki has refreshed its W230 modern classic with a new colour option for 2027, although the bike’s price remains unchanged.
As was the case previously, riders will be limited to just one colourway aboard the 2027 W230, with a new Ebony paint scheme replacing the Metallic Matte Dark Green.
However, this slight refresh will have no impact on the price of the motorcycle, which stays at £4,654.
The W230, which arrived as a new bike for 2026, is a smaller model that’s based on the company’s 650-W1 from the 1960s.
For 2027, the new bike remains unchanged mechanically and technically, meaning it continues to be powered by a 233cc air-cooled single that produces 17.3bhp at 7,000rpm and 13.7Ib-ft of torque at 5,800rpm.
The W230 is one of several retro-inspired models within Kawasaki’s complete motorcycle range, which features a dedicated Retro Sport line-up that includes the Z650RS and Z900RS models.
Braking is handled by a single 265mm disc that’s paired with a dual-piston caliper up front. At the rear is a single 220mm disc and single-piston caliper.
The suspension setup comprises 37mm telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks with adjustable preload.
Seat height comes in at 745mm, while the bike features a curb weight of 143kg - the estimated dry weight of the W230 is 133kg. Additionally, riders will benefit from 150mm of ground clearance and a 12-litre fuel capacity.
Since its launch in 2026, the W230 has not managed to overhaul the likes of Honda’s GB350S and the BSA Bantam 350 as one of the most popular modern classic motorcycles in the UK, and with only a colour change taking place for 2027, it’s unclear if that will lead to different results. The 2027 bike is available starting from this month.
