Suzuki surprises everyone with mini electric GSX-R at Suzuka

Suzuki stole the show at Suzuka earlier this month, but not for the reasons you might expect, as it revealed an electric GSX-R in mini form.

The Team Suzuki CN Challenge may have had a race to forget at Suzuka earlier this month, although the Japanese company still stole the show with this mini e-PO GSX-R-inspired electric bike.

The base of the mini GSX-R CN Challenge bike is derived from the e-PO electric bicycle that was revealed in Japan a few years ago.

We should point out that, as of this writing, there’s no evidence that Suzuki will make a production line of these mini electric GSX-R models, but we can still dream.

The mini bike was revealed alongside the brand’s Team CN Challenge GSX-R1000R, which raced at the event with 100 per cent sustainable fuel for the first time.

Unfortunately for the Team Suzuki CN Challenge outfit, it finished in 33rd place, 32 laps down on eventual winners Honda. However, Suzuki’s full factory team fared a lot better as the Yoshimura SERT Motul squad finished on the podium in third.

The cute mini bike featured a simulated Yoshimura exhaust to mimic its much bigger sibling, while also getting an identical livery and winglets to the race bike. The e-PO houses a Panasonic electric motor inside its small frame, and a 16Ah lithium battery.

Suzuki’s display of the mini bike was also a nod to its 40-year anniversary celebrations of the GSX-R family, which welcomes an all-new GSX-R1000R for 2026.

Regarding the mini e-PO GSX-R frame, the original aluminium alloy frame has been heavily modified to fit within the small chassis. The bike is also seen wearing 10-inch Bridgestone tyres, featuring 80/90-10 dimensions at both the front and rear.
