Liane Langlois sets 146.349mph land speed record with Triumph Rocket III sidecar
Canada’s first female FIM Land Speed World Record holder has done it again, with Liane Langlois setting a speed of 146.349mph on a Triumph Rocket III-powered sidecar.
If she wasn’t already, Liane Langlois’ latest achievement might just have made her the face of Canadian land speed racing.
Langlois produced her latest world record at the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials last week, after having already achieved a world record at the same event in 2025.
Langlois achieved her new world record with the same Triumph Rocket III-powered sidecar that helped her set a record of 136.331mph last year.
However, Langlois’s latest attempt was made after her machine gained aerodynamic assistance courtesy of a front fairing and a wheel cover for the sidecar. Those changes meant that Langlois was now competing with the same machine, albeit in a different category.
The bike is a 2012 JKR Powersports Triumph Rocket III Roadster, powered by Triumph’s notorious 2,295cc three-cylinder engine and fitted with a weighted sidecar.
What’s arguably more impressive than her latest record, is the fact that in 2024, Langlois could only manage a first pass that reached 95mph.
Speaking after her new world record, Langlois said:
“On Tuesday, I ran a 146.9mph on my down run. We got out for the return run and when I was shifting through my gears, something wasn’t feeling good, but I managed to get through the timed mile at 145.7mph.
“The very first time I ran it in 2024, my very first pass was only 95mph! We’ve come a long way in these three years so I’m very excited for what we have done – and I get to bring another world record home to Canada!”
A total of eight new world records were set at the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials, including Land Speed legend Jay Allen, who set a timed run of 181.844mph aboard his twin-cylinder 2017 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide.
Lisa Cipolla also set a new world record with her four-cylinder 2012 Zlock Racing LCC 600cc Kawasaki ZX-6R, going faster than her record last year with a timed run of 151.567mph in partially-faired trim.
