Special edition Ducati Formula ‘73 could land in 2026
Ducati’s 100th anniversary celebrations in 2026 could be about to give us a special edition Formula ‘73 model.

New paperwork published in the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has revealed a 2026 Ducati Formula ‘73 model, which is set to use an 803cc V-Twin engine.
That’s the same power unit that’s used by the Ducati Scrambler, which the new Formula ‘73 will be based on. However, we also expect it to land as a tribute to the 750 Supersport Desmo which was born in 1973.
The 750 SS Desmo was used for racing with great success, going on to win the 1975 Italian Championship with Franco Uncini. Ducati produced that bike following Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari’s memorable 1-2 finish at the first-ever Imola 200 event in 1972.
Smart and Spaggiari raced Ducati’s 750 Imola Desmo machines, which competed in the FIM Formula 750 series, which is where the new model gets its name connection from.

The engine listed on the CARB filing and its name are the only bits of information we know about at this stage, but with Ducati celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026, the model could, and most likely is, going to land as a special edition. That might mean a total of 100 units, or 73 if we’re going off its name and potential tribute factor.
The new Formula ‘73 model was added to the list of approved motorcycles alongside two 2026 Ducati Scrambler and three Scrambler Full Throttle models.
One of those Full Throttle models was marked with a ‘T’ version, as is one of the two Formula ‘73 models, meaning it will be manufactured in Thailand, not Italy.
In terms of the bike’s potential launch date, availability, specs and price, none of this information is known at this stage.
