Buell hill climber concept could be heading for production as an adventure motorcycle

It looks as though Buell Motorcycle’ flagship Super Cruiser could be about to serve as inspiration for a new adventure motorcycle in the near future. 

This is after a Buell “The Goat” hill climber concept was revealed, and while not all concept motorcycles head for production, it’s clear that by using the Super Cruiser as its base, the American brand could at least be considering it. 

According to Hot Bike, the new concept was built as a hill climber to test how versatile Buell’s Super Cruiser motorcycle platform is. 

The bike makes use of long-travel WP suspension, and a stripped-down chassis, which in-turn has led to an aggressive-looking two-way exhaust system.

The report goes on to say that, according to Buell CEO Bill Melvin, discussions to adapt the platform into an adventure-based motorcycle have already taken place with the team that was in charge of the project.

Photos of the bike show the brand’s Super Cruiser wearing knobbly off-road-focused tyres, which is one of the most evident and significant adjustments made from the standard model in road trim. 

With the Super Cruiser clearly showing itself as a production model that could take on a new adventure-based look, this could also mean that Buell has other designs it is considering for the future.

Again, this adventure-inspired Super Cruiser has not been confirmed as a future production motorcycle, however, it would make sense as the company does not have an adventure bike in its range, currently. 

For the time being, the Super Cruiser is part of a four-strong model line-up that includes the SuperTouring, Hammerhead and 1190 SX models.
