Secret treasure trove of motorbikes discovered after collector’s death
A beautiful Velocete Vogue from the 1950s is amongst the trove of treasure discovered after a collector's death in Kent
A COLLECTION of motorbikes and auto-cycles dating back to the 1940s is tipped to fetch up to £20,000 in auction after they were discovered secretly stashed in a shed of a deceased man.
The unnamed motorbike enthusiast from Medway in Kent was known to be a keen collector of motorbikes he’d restore, but even his family weren’t aware several remained on his premises behind hoards of items
However, the Daily Mirror reports that after the retired HGV driver died, his family made discovery whilst sorting his possessions.
Pride of the collection was a Velocette Vogue [Main Image - Library], a well-preserved item that today could fetch a significant amount at auction when it goes under the hammer at National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, West Midlands, next month.
With his collection also including various powered auto-cycles, as used by nurses in the 1940s and 1950s, Mark Bryan of auctioneers H&H said: “Even the unrestored projects were all carefully wrapped up to protect and preserve them.”
