Delivery-mile Ducati Desmosedici RR lands on eBay
A Ducati Desmosedici RR showing just the factory delivery mileage has surfaced on eBay, complete with every original accessory and paperwork after spending almost two decades in the shadows.

If you were to sit down and write a list of the most special, money no object bikes on the planet, the Ducati Desmosedici RR would probably be up there near the top.
Unveiled at World Ducati Week in 2004, the bike immediately gained legendary status, thanks to its MotoGP-derived design and ultra-exclusive production run. With just 1,500 bikes built between 2007 and 2008, when it comes to very special, special editions, really on the Honda RC213V-S can come close.

With all that in mind, pukka Desmos coming up on the open market is a rare occurrence. Delivery mileage and unregistered bikes landing on eBay is even rarer – but that is exactly what we have here.
According to the seller, the Desmosedici RR has covered just the 10 miles required by Ducati as part of its pre-delivery inspection before leaving the supplying dealer. After that, the fuel was drained, the battery removed, and the bike placed into indoor static storage, where it has remained ever since.

The seller says it has not been started or ridden during their ownership and has never been registered or titled. It is being sold with its original Certificate of Origin and all of the factory-supplied accessories, including the titanium rear paddock stand, sponsor decal kit, battery charger, toolkit, manuals, key card, spare keys and Ducati Data Analyser. In short, if you hopped in a time machine and bought one of these back in 2004, this is basically how it would have arrived.

The reason bikes like this attract so much attention is because the Desmosedici RR wasn't simply another limited-edition Ducati wearing race bike bodywork. It was the first genuine attempt by a major manufacturer to put a MotoGP-inspired machine into the hands of paying customers.

Power came from a 989cc 90-degree V4 with desmodromic engine, producing around 200bhp in standard trim, while the chassis, electronics and carbon-fibre bodywork all took heavy influence from Ducati's Desmosedici GP racer. At a time when litre sportsbikes were still making around 170bhp, the RR sat in a league of its own – the original price tag of around £40,000 doubled down on this.

That rarity, combined with its place in Ducati's history, means values have remained remarkably strong. Used examples regularly change hands for well into five figures, while untouched bikes complete with every accessory command an even bigger premium. Enthusiasts generally agree that delivery-mileage examples like this sit right at the top of the desirability tree.
This particular listing has the bike sitting on $31,300 USD (around £23,000), which is exceedingly cheap for a bike of this kind. That said, the reserve still hasn’t been met, and the auction still has a few days to run.
