Described as “out of this world”, a brand-new, still-in-crate, 2021 Aprilia Tuono X has gone up for auction in Canada.

The description came from none other than former Aprilia Racing MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaro, who was one of the first riders to spin a lap on the limited-edition model when it was released in 2021.

Espargaro, who is now an official Honda MotoGP test rider, said this at the time:

“I had never tested a high-handlebar bike on the track and I was surprised at the feeling of stability. The engine is insane, but the chassis architecture doesn't struggle - to the contrary: the riding position and the electronics make it extremely fun. You can ride it cleanly, but you can also drift with it if you want to. It is a pure sportbike with a hooligan side!"

The Tuono model arrived as the second instalment of the Noale-based company’s X series, following the release of the RSV4 X in 2019. Since the Tuono X’ arrival, Aprilia has added four more models to that series, including the most recent X 250TH superbike, which leans on MotoGP’s up-to-date technology and aerodynamics.

The Tuono X for sale is number 18 out of a limited run of 30, and according to the listing from Iconic Motorbike Auctions, it includes a “factory display carpet, rear stand, and matching helmet. It also includes a bike cover, Aprilia USB drive, and an exhaust baffle.”

Like the above-mentioned RSV4 X model, the Tuono X sold out in minutes following its reveal, despite being available in 30 units compared to ten for the RSV4 X.

The bike’s price is set at $45,475, which at current exchange rates converts to around £34,430, although that does not include shipping fees. A deposit of $2,975 (£2,250) is also required.

More information about the bike can be found on the official Iconic Motorbike Auctions website.
