Overall Review

I think it will be the class leading bike until 2012 when the fireblade comes out,12 years ago I bought a 98 R1 and thought how could they ever make a better bike, but every year they just steer better get lighter, and more HP and now electronics

Strengths

super quick steering ,top suspension, yet to really try all the electronics, not hot to ride a problem with Late model R1's & S1000RR feels light now when I take off the kat and put on a Akrapovic exhaust and a R&G tail tidy will be very light.

Weaknesses

Have not found any yet, but the 17 litre tank might be a little small on our 1500 km 2 day trips , 300 ks on a tank full comes in handy

Overall Review

On track, no other Japanese inline four will keep up with it. The traction control works better than on the S1000RR

Strengths

It might sound like a cliche but it feels like a 600 and goes better than you'd think a 1000 could. The traction control is incredible, subtle and won't bog you down out of corners. In a car park of S1000RRs, you'll be the bloke on the rare 10R

Weaknesses

It won't hold its value like an S1000RR

Overall Review

I was just kicking my heels in a bike shop sitting on the different offerings waiting for my mate to finish his transactions. The salesman asked if I had my licence on me. Waved the keys at me...presto, my first Kawasaki since the mid 90s I've been on FireBlades for 15 years Never regretted it for a second. Smooth traction control. Ballistic power. Maybe a revalve on the rear shock if you like a pie. But you really need to be cracking on for that to be an issue. If it looked as good as the ZX7R it would be perfect.

Strengths

It's very quick, very nimble. Reasonably comfy, looks different in a manga kind of way. A very visceral ride. The build quality is up there with the Honda now, but the non lacquered engine cases could do with a coating of scotoil fs365 or whatever the stuff is called. Plenty of aftermarket bits means making it personal is easy. And if you're a fast rider there's a mass off information to get the very best from it. Just look at the super stock grid at any bike race ;)

Weaknesses

The gearing is a little tall in 1st through 3rd but dropping a tooth from the front sprocket sorts that without really affecting the (academic) top speed, and as the speedo is fed from the rear wheel the reading isn't affected. The seats a bit hard. Can't afford enough track days.

Overall Review

If your in the market for an all out superbike, you wouldn't go far wrong with the ZX10R, pound for pound and with the finance deals about, it has got to be seriously considered!! I never fail to smile after every outing, have considered the BMW S1000RR and Panigale, but when you factor in the cost I don't think either of them would give me anymore enjoyment that I get with 10R!!

Strengths

Awesome engine that just keeps on pulling, sharp looks, I know not to everyone's taste, but I love it!! For a supersport bike, it's pretty comfortable, you could spend all day on it without worrying about getting off at the other end. Traction control is without doubt a useful addition, allows you to exploit all that power safely, well as safe as it gets!! Handling is superb for an 'out of the crate' bike, yes it can be improved by spending on expensive upgrades, but for road riding it is fine as it is.

Weaknesses

Brakes are not the best, overheat very quickly resulting in the lever coming back to the bar after some spirited riding. I'm about to fit Brembo pads, braided hoses and high temp fluid to see if that helps. Standard tyres are not the best, I've fitted a set of Dunlop Sportsmarts, transformed the bike, it now goes exactly where you point it!! The rear shock has a tendency to collect a lot of debris, but fitting an after market hugger sorts this.

Overall Review

Just done three days on track with mine and can't fault it.

Strengths

Handling, power, electronics

Weaknesses

Lacking a bit of midrange but a change of rear sprocket sorts it. Would be nice for it to come in other colours other than black or green.

Overall Review

Mines a 2011 model, which I bought as it had the traction control. So far I have done 5 track days and its awesome. The bike is far better than I will ever be. Still learning to trust the traction control. Changed the tyres to Pirelli's before it had turned a wheel. Now running Metzeler K3.

Strengths

Power, handling and traction control system.

Weaknesses

Comes with rubbish tyres and could do with a quick shifter is standard. Over geared which is solved with a bigger rear sprocket and not much midrange which is sorted with an ECU remap.
