Stark Varg SM Sköll sold out in under 48 hours with no second production run planned

Under 48 hours is what it took Stark to sell all 500 units of its new 80bhp Varg SM Sköll, but despite the significant interest from customers, no second production run is forthcoming, according to the bike’s maker. 

This was confirmed by the electric startup after orders opened on Wednesday, September 16, at 10am UK time. 

By that time on Friday, September 18, the new blacked-out limited-edition model was already gone. 

The Varg SM Sköll arrived as a limited-edition version of the standard electric supermoto, which sits in the company’s range alongside the flagship MX1.2 and EX models. 

At the time of the bike’s launch, Stark had already given away the secret that no second production run was planned.

Customers that missed out might be left disappointed by the lack of a second production run, however, Stark says it is already focused on those that failed to secure one of the 500 units.

Morgan Karlsson, Chief Marketing Officer of Stark Future, said:

"Five hundred bikes, fully claimed within two days. That provides an unmistakable validation of what we created.

“Our focus now turns to the riders who missed out. That is where our dealer network plays a vital role. We are fully backing them this week with secured allocations and a direct path for sell-through and to the standard VARG SM, which shares the exact same platform and powertrain.

“The Sköll was designed from the beginning as a limited offering; the VARG SM is built to endure."

There are many similarities between the limited-edition Sköll and Varg SM models, with both motorcycles sharing the same steel frame, carbon-fibre front subframe, 7.2kWh battery and single-speed electric drivetrain. That also means that power (80bhp) and torque (674 Ib-ft) figures are the same across both models. 

The Sköll variant does offer weight savings compared to the Varg SM, but the changes have led to nothing more than minor differences. 

The standard footpegs were replaced by 3D-printed titanium items, saving 140g, while another 900g has been saved through the addition of a full titanium bolt kit.
