BMW F450 R parallel twin-cylinder naked teased
BMW has teased a new F450 R naked bike, using the same 420cc parallel twin as the F450 GS and due to be revealed on October 1.
With the launch of the new F450 GS now done and gone, all eyes are now scanning the horizon for the arrival of its naked sibling.
That moment seems to be getting closer, with BMW officially revealing a teaser image of the new bike on social media.
The post, which you can see below, simply places the machine set against a city centre backdrop. Clearly seen in the image is the new, more muscular outline of the bike, along with a new stepped headlight unit.
Also visible are two exhaust downpipes, which go some way to proving it’s using the same 420cc engine as the already launched 450 GS.
What we don’t now, is the final spec of the bike. In GS trim, the TVS-built engine puts out a healthy 47bhp at 8,750rpm, and 32 lb-ft at 6,750rpm.
With this bike aiming formly at the asphalt and on-road thrills, as opposed to trail riding and adventure touring, it’s sensible to assume that BMW will have tweaked the engine to better suit that remit.
Exactly what that means for the new bike remains to be seen, although we shouldn’t have to wait long to find out.
The post from BMW also confirms that more information will be made public on October 1 at 5pm CEST (4pm UK time). Whether that is full spec and features, or just further visual confirmation of the model isn’t know.
With it looking increasingly likely that the new machine is indeed the F450 R, the only other obvious model the twin-cylinder platform could spawn is a sportier F450 RR.
The old G310 family included a G310 RR, but that bike was only sold in certain regions, with the UK not among them.
For now, though, the F450 R is the bike BMW is teasing, and the October 1 reveal should tell us exactly what the new middleweight roadster has to offer.
