BSA Gold Star 650 gets special edition Birmingham Blue and Brooklands Black colours

BSA has taken its list of colour options aboard the iconic Gold Star 650 to eight, courtesy of two special edition liveries based on historic periods for the British-born motorcycle company.

The first colourway is aptly named ‘Birmingham Blue’, which pays tribute to the brand's historical roots in the West Midlands.

BSA was founded in Birmingham during the year 1919, and went on to become a significant producer of motorcycles in Britain for many years thereafter. 

Although the British company was bought by Indian motorcycle giant Mahindra in October 2016, development of the 2021 Gold Star again took place in Birmingham. 

The new model was named after Gold Star models of the 1950 and early 1960s, and in its current form, it features a 652cc liquid-cooled single that produces 45 hp (around 44.3bhp) at 6,500rpm and 40.5 Ib-ft of torque at 4,000rpm. 

A modern classic by name, the Birmingham Blue livery reinforces that line of thinking through its combination of sharp lines and vintage style.

The vivid blue colourway is found throughout the motorcycle, including the tank, side panels, as well as the front and rear mudguards. 

The new variant also features white lines across the tank and side panels in order to give the motorcycle a more classic touch.

The second colourway is called ‘Brooklands Black’, which is centred around the company’s racing heritage. 

This particular option features a chrome paint scheme on top of the fuel tank, which is then met by gold lines and black paintwork underneath. 

Chrome is again featured on both the front and rear mudguard, while the side panels are painted in black.
