Is this sleek concept actually a Honda CBR750R hiding in plain sight?
Yesterday, Honda revealed a collab with the Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka, but could there be more to this than meets the eye?
Honda took to the catwalk this week, after revealing a sleek and eye-catchingly bright sports bike concept at the glitzy Milan Fashion Week.
But after poring over the images released yesterday, we think this could be Honda’s next mid-weight offering hiding in plain sight.
The bike, seen below, bears many hallmarks of Honda’s CB750 Hornet platform, leading us to believe that it could be a new CBR750R.
The first clue to this is the frame.
Honda utilises a steel diamond frame for the Hornet, which has some fairly distinctive design details, especially when it comes to the area where the one-piece subframe meets the main frame of the bike.
The frame on the machine revealed at Milan Fashion Week looks almost identical to the existing 2027 CB750 Hornet, right down to the placement of the footpeg mounting points and the frame’s proximity to the clutch cover.
The next clue is only evident when looking at the bike from a head-on, three-quarter perspective. Peer through the expansive opening behind the front wheel and we can clearly see two downpipe exhausts peeking back at us.
Now, this could be the same engine that’s found in the CBR500R, although when taken with the evidence above relating to the frame and subframe, it seems clear that Honda is using Milan Fashion Week as a springboard to tease one of its upcoming new models.
With EICMA just a couple of months away, we wouldn’t bet against seeing more of this new model back in Milan. For now, though, we can only speculate as to what the final tune and trim of the machine will be.
One thing, though, seems clear, the Yamaha R9 and Ducati Panigale V2 might have a little bit of competition, either in 2027 or beyond in the form of a new sports bike from Honda.
