Yamaha WR250F, WR450F get new ECU locking system
Yamaha has given its WR250F and WR450F off-road competition motorcycles minor tweaks for 2026, while also confirming UK prices.

Yamaha’s 2026 enduro range has gained minor updates for 2026, which includes the addition of an anti-theft ECU lock function.
Riders can access the new locking mechanism through the Yamaha Power Tuner app, which is also found on the all-new YZ Off-Road Competition range. The ‘industry-first’ system means the engine will only start when it’s unlocked via a password.
Both the WR250F and WR450F also gain new blue seats and updated graphics, while prices compared to the previous models have altered slightly. The WR250F now costs £8,850, an increase of £150 from before. The bigger sibling WR450F is now priced at £9,300, giving it a jump of £300 over the previous model.

The two bikes keep the same engines as before, meaning the former continues to house the power unit that was developed from the race-winning YZ250F motocross machine. The WR450F’s reverse-head motor “is the strongest and most advanced design ever used on a Yamaha enduro bike,” according to the brand.
Both bikes also continue with KYB suspension which includes a speed-sensitive front fork system (SSS), and hand-adjustable compression and damping. Braking is taken care of by Nissin on both bikes, with a two-piston 270mm disc at the front and 240mm single disc at the rear.
The WR450F features a fuel tank capacity of 7.9 litres, while the WR250F is capable of holding 7.4 litres.
