The Manx Grand Prix has already suffered the same fate as the 2026 Isle of Man TT, with day two’s qualifying schedule cancelled due to poor weather conditions.

Roads on the Isle of Man were set to close at 6pm this evening, with qualifying scheduled to start just 30 minutes later. It was the Senior MGP/Supersport MGP session that was set to kick things off before organisers made their decision to cancel all running earlier this afternoon.

A statement from the Manx Grand Prix said:

“Monday evening’s qualifying session has been cancelled. Roads around a large section of the TT Course are wet and, with further rain forecast, conditions are not expected to have improved sufficiently for qualifying to take place.”

By leaving their decision until around 3pm, organisers were hopeful that conditions would clear ahead of this evening’s schedule, but that was not the case with more rain forecast. Of course, the 2026 TT was heavily impacted by poor weather in late May/early June, with only four of the eight races scheduled actually being completed from start to finish.

It now looks as though the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT could be in for similar challenges over the next two weeks, with the latter set to wrap things up on August 28.

The cancellation of today’s qualifying comes after day one of the MGP was stopped due to a crash for Salvatore Sallustro. The Italian competitor was taken to Noble’s Hospital by helicopter shortly after his incident. There has been no update regarding Sallustro’s condition since Sunday evening.

The Manx Grand Prix will continue on Tuesday, August 18, with qualifying for the Senior MGP/Supersport MGP categories, and the Junior MGP/Sportbike MGP classes. A one-lap Classic TT session will follow at 19:50pm.

Roads are once again expected to close at 6pm, before the first session gets underway at 6:30pm.
