North West 200 winner, BSB star, and one of very few men that can pull off a top hat, Storm Stacey, has finally been reunited with his pickup truck after a four-hour inspection was carried out by Manx police.

Stacey arrived on the island during race week at the TT, which has failed to get out of second gear due to major weather delays. But during his visit, it seems that the weather at the TT was not the only storm brewing, as Stacey had his vehicle seized due to it being “dangerous”, and not having road-legal wheels, according to the 23-year-old racing star.

Although the were no faults with the vehicle, according to Stacey, some adjustments were made in order to comply with road-legal regulations. This involved building new wheel arch flares out of what seems like gaffer tape - the regulations are that a vehicle's wheels must not protrude further then the wheel arch. Stacey's truck is a 'Dually' with twin rear wheels for extra traction, which are believed to have made him fall foul of the rules.

After finally getting his truck back, Stacey took to social media, saying:

"Manx police won the battle but not the war. Pickups back with me now after it got seized for being un-roadworthy after a full vehicle inspection took 4 hours and the truck came back with no faults. Thanks Manx police for making me feel so welcome. Hopefully we can see some good racing today good luck all riders."

A regular in BSB over the last few seasons, Stacey showed that a future in road racing could be on the cards when he rocked up and won at the North West 200 on his debut, just last month.

Stacey secured two victories, however, his love affair for road racing might have taken a hit based on the action of the Manx police. Then again, we’re talking about one of the most flamboyant motorcycle racers, not just in the UK, but worldwide, and his initial social media post about the incident suggests he might not have be too unnerved by the events, as he remained in high spirits.

Stacey arrived on the Isle of Man on Monday ahead of Tuesday’s triple-header, which ended up featuring just one out of the originally scheduled three races due to poor weather once more.
