Sym announce MaxSym TL maxi scooter
The Sym MaxSym TL could rival the TMAX and MP3 although sadly, as yet, there is no plan to bring the maxi-scooter to the UK

54 years 8 monthsSYM motorcycles and scooters have launched their latest machine in the form of the SymMax maxi-scooter.
The bike seems to tick all the right maxi-scooter boxes, masses of weather protection, loads of under-seat storage and a sporty yet attractive design.
It’s powered by a 465cc in-line twin-cylinder engine, that produces 41 HP at 6,750 rpm and a torque of 43Nm (31.72lb-ft) at 6,250 rpm. The engine is one of the biggest and most advanced in the current Sym line up, boasting reverse balance shafts and four-valves per cylinder and DOHC.
Chassis spec is also suitably top-notch, with USD forks, a linkage mounted rear shock and four-piston radially mounted calipers up front.
Dominating the cockpit is an expansive TFT/LCD dash, with multiple elements providing the rider with speed, RPM, engine temp and a whole host of other information.
Will the Sym MaxSym come to the UK?
Sadly for Brit-based fans of a big scoot, the MaxSym seems unlikely to land on these shores just yet. We spoke to the Sym PR team today who confirmed they could buy the bike in ready-to-run UK spec, although they don’t plan to do that – for now. It's partly down to COVID-19 and also the UK’s unjust and fairly dim view of bikes like this makes it a tough sell for punters this side of the channel.
But who knows, if the response is warm enough, they might just change their mind!
And if they did, the Max Sym would be one of the best value big scooters on the market, given its European price tag of €7,999 making it a clear couple of grand less than Yamaha’s TMAX. Whether or not it is a couple of grand less of a machine than the Yamaha, we might never find out.
