MV Agusta Brutale Assen special edition launched

A new special edition of the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR was launched at Assen last weekend. It is named after the historic Dutch circuit.

35 Dutch TT wins are counted by MV Agusta, and those are the reason for the existence of the new Brutale 1000 RR Assen special edition motorcycle.

On the surface, a distinctive blue paint job distinguishes the bike from other MV models, which are traditionally painted in red.

In terms of performance, the Assen is the same as the standard Brutale 1000 RR, producing 208bhp and 86lb ft of torque from the 998cc inline-four-cylinder engine. But, the weight is reduced by six kilograms, from 186kg down to 180kg.

The weight loss is thanks to the use of carbon fibre in many places. Specifically:

  • Air-box cover
  • Dashboard harness cover
  • RH/LH fuel tank panels
  • RH/LH side panels
  • Clutch and gearbox covers
  • Side headlight covers
  • Front headlight cover
  • Front spoiler
  • Front and rear wheels
  • Lower exhaust cover
  • LH/RH silencer covers
  • Passenger seat cover

Additional exclusive features for the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR Assen include:

  • Lighter crankshaft
  • New combustion chamber
  • Lighter pistons
  • Titanium connecting rods
  • Dashboard TFT 5.5-inch colour display
  • Cruise control Bluetooth
  • GPS
  • MV Ride App for navigation mirroring, app-controlled engine, suspension and rider aids setup
  • Launch Control
  • FLC (Front lift control)
  • Mobisat anti-theft system with geolocation
  • Customized Alcantara seats

The bike also comes with the Racing Kit as an option, as is the case with all special editions from MV. This means a CNC tank cap, brake lever, and clutch lever; as well as a carbon pillion seat cover and a cover for the bike. Additional ‘racing’ options are an Arrow silencer with an ECU mapping dedicated to that silencer, and a ‘welcome kit box’ with a certificate of authenticity.

Only 300 Brutale 1000 RR Assen units will be made. Head to the MV Agusta website to find out more.

A new special edition MV Agusta Brutale is set to be launched this weekend at the famous TT Assen circuit in the Netherlands.

Assen is hosting its annual Classic GP this upcoming weekend on 8-10 September, and MV Agusta announced earlier this year that it would be attending the event in celebration and recognition of its own success there.

The Italian brand counts, among its numerous titles and victories at circuits across Europe, 35 World Championship victories at Assen during its time at the forefront of Grand Prix racing in the 1960s and 1970s.

In addition to its attendance of the Classic GP, MV, which this year is also marking the 80th anniversary of its first motorcycle engine - the 98 - will be launching a new special edition motorcycle.

The launch, anticipated by a social media post, will take place on 9 September, the second day of the upcoming Classic GP which takes place this weekend.

What’s clear from the social media post is the standard bike from which the new special edition will be derived, thanks to the hashtag “Brutale Assen" and a relatively revealing silhouette.

Earlier this year, the MV Agusta Dragster SCS America special edition was launched, but this newest special edition will clearly be based on the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR.

The details of the bike are of course as yet unknown, but it might be expected that they will be revealed with the bike itself on 9 September.
