UK balance bike company offers Ducati, Triumph replicas

It’s never too early to start encouraging your child to do dangerous (but fun) things.

Carl Fogarty is a grandad. Imagine having Carl Fogarty as your grandfather. For us, that’s the takeaway thought from a Kiddimoto media release that landed in our inbox this week.

Kiddimoto is a UK-based maker of wooden balance bikes for kids. Its current range includes a number of bikes with the liveries of iconic motorcycles from Triumph and Ducati. Foggy is a spokesman, and the media release quotes him as saying:

“It’s brilliant to see kids discovering the joy of riding so early. Kiddimoto’s bikes look incredible and really capture the superbike spirit. As a granddad, it’s great to share that excitement with my grandkids – and to be part of something that inspires the little racers of tomorrow.”

Lucky grandkids. Both of my grandfathers played golf and watched A LOT of baseball. Neither would have ever encouraged motorcycle riding; they didn’t even trust me behind the wheel of a golf cart.

Anyway, the four Kiddimoto bikes in question are painted to resemble the Ducati Desmo GP25, Ducati 916, Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS, and Triumph 765. Aimed at children aged 2-5, Kiddimoto balance bikes are, according to the manufacturer, “crafted from sustainably sourced birch plywood with pneumatic tyres, footrests and child-safe paints.”

As a father of a 2-year-old, I can’t help but note that the bikes weigh 5 kg. If you buy your child a balance bike you WILL find yourself carrying it in parks and such. Usually in the same hand as your daughter’s jacket, and no less than three plush toys.

The bikes are currently available for preorder, with deliveries set to arrive on 20 December – just in time for Christmas. So, you can look forward to lugging one of these things with you to the pub on Boxing Day.

If you’d like to see the bikes in person, Kiddimoto has a stand at Motorcycle Live (taking place from 15 to 23 November 2025 at the NEC Birmingham). Families visiting the stand can see the full collection in person, and children aged 2-5 can test them out on a purpose-built “MiniGP” track.
