New Sena Vortex Bluetooth intercom launches from £139
Sena has launched the new Vortex Bluetooth intercom, a two-rider system with 1.2km range, wireless charging and prices starting at £139.
Sena has added a new entry-level Bluetooth intercom to its range with the launch of the Vortex, a two-way communication system aimed at riders travelling with a pillion or a single riding partner.
Priced from £139 for a single unit, or £269 for a dual pack, the Vortex is designed around simple rider-to-rider communication rather than large group chat. A dedicated Quick Pair button allows two units to connect with a single press, while Bluetooth intercom range is claimed to be up to 1.2km between riders.
The Vortex uses Bluetooth 5.1 and features second-generation 40mm HD speakers, while Sena's Advanced Noise Control system is designed to reduce wind and background noise picked up by the microphone. It also includes FM radio, over-the-air software updates and compatibility with the Sena Motorcycles and Sena Wave apps. The latter allows riders to communicate over a mobile data connection for effectively unlimited range.
Power comes from a 720mAh battery, with Sena claiming up to 27 hours of talk time from a full charge. Charging takes around two hours, although a 20-minute top-up is said to provide around two and a half hours of use. The unit also supports Qi wireless charging via its magnetic mounting system.
The intercom measures 18mm thick, weighs 37g, carries an IPX7 waterproof rating, and is supplied with interchangeable silver, matt black and white faceplates.
