JD Stunts breaks ‘highchair’ wheelie record with 127mph top speed

Jonny Davies set a new Guinness World Record last weekend, posting a new ‘highchair’ wheelie top speed of 127mph.

Jonny Davies, AKA JD Stunts, has set a new Guinness World Record for the highest ‘highchair’ wheelie top speed at the Elvington Airfield in York.

The new record was set last weekend, although his initial attempt was rained off on Saturday. But on Sunday, after several practice runs and a first attempt that was 8mph down on the existing record (125mph), Davies then managed to set a new top speed of 127mph.

As it sounds, performing a ‘highchair’ wheelie is not your typical type of top speed attempt, but Davies is a master of unconventional speed runs. In 2024, he used a supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX to set a record-breaking speed of 159.52mph while skiing, in other words holding on to the back of the bike.

Davies’ new ‘highchair’ wheelie world record involved sitting on the fuel tank of his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, which was heavily modified for the attempt. The first and most notable change was the fairing being removed. From there, a ‘scooter brake’ type system was placed on the handlebars, as was a bar-mounted gear shifter. The bike’s fuel tank was also altered to allow him to sit securely while travelling at speeds of around 120mph.

Davies has already turned his attention to another record, which includes setting the fastest speed while riding facing backwards. The current record was set in 2002 and stands at 151.7mph. Davies will attempt to go faster than that some time in 2026.

Speaking about his successful ‘highchair’ wheelie top speed record, Davies said:

“It’s amazing to have broken another record! The conditions were far from perfect, and the crosswind was particularly tough. However, I managed to reach over 170mph during my practice speed runs and 120mph with regular wheelies, so I knew it was possible, so I just gritted my teeth and gave it everything!

"The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R didn’t miss a beat and has been the perfect machine for the attempt – and I’m confident we’ll be celebrating again next year when we break the record for riding backwards.”
