CFMoto presents all-new 200bhp-plus V4 SR-RR prototype

CFMoto has a new superbike prototype it wants you to know about, and for good reason.

There are many ways I could introduce the new V4 SR-RR superbike prototype from CFMoto, but first here’s a little bit of history about the new bike.

We’ve known about a potential 200bhp-plus V4 superbike from CFMoto for some time, after patent filings surfaced in 2023. Then we were treated to a public debut of its V4 power unit at the 2024 EICMA show. But this prototype is now heading for production very soon.

Sure, the engine has created intrigue, and for good reason, but the best place to start is the aerodynamic package of the new V4 SR-RR. As you can see, it is something that would look very much at home on a race track.

And that’s important to remember, as in recent years CFMoto has expanded its presence in world championship racing. Currently competing in both the Moto2 and Moto3 championships, the obvious next step would be MotoGP, and that's where a modified version of this prototype is potentially heading.

CFMoto has not said whether that’s indeed the case, or it could even be earmarked for WorldSBK instead. However, the V4 SR-RR may be destined to become the Chinese company’s flagship race bike in some capacity.

Back to those aerodynamics, and by that we mean the winglets, which are electronically operated. Essentially, the aim of these active winglets is to maximise downforce while riding on-track, which happens when they adjust their angle both automatically and in real time based on your speed and riding conditions.

The winglets work together with the bike’s semi-active electronic suspension, which is adjustable. The innovative active aero system is one of the standout features that we know about this bike. The V4 SR-RR was also seen at EICMA sporting Brembo Hypure calipers and a full-titanium Akrapovic exhaust system.

Then there’s the hugely powerful V4 engine, which CFMoto claims produces more than 210hp which is over 207bhp.

That’s more than Bimota’s KB998 Rimini and Yamaha’s R1, and around the same numbers as Ducati’s Panigale V4 and Honda’s CBR1000RR-R.

Without giving too much away about its new model, a CFMoto press release said “the package embraces cutting-edge electronics for maximum control of the output and safety. The sporty visual is striking, celebrating dynamism, performance and the future but the aerodynamic profile, the weight-to-power and tech specs all hoist the V4 SR-RR alongside any other premium motorcycle offering from any other brand.”

CFMoto has not yet revealed all the specs and details of its new V4 SR-RR prototype, which will likely come when the bike has gone through its production phase. We’ll likely find out when to expect the model to land in dealerships around that time as well.
