AJS Motorcycles fills the gap left by Imber 125 with the rugged Leten LT190

Following the failed launch of the highly-anticipated Imber 125, AJS Motorcycles has returned with two new models to its small-capacity line-up, both of which are destined for adventure riders in the UK.

In terms of appearance, it’s hard not to see a direct resemblance between the Imber 125, and the Leten LT190. The rugged-looking LT190, which is priced at £3,495, and the Imber 125 also share a very similar design in terms of the exhaust. 

The system on both bikes starts by sweeping up the side of the engine, however, this is different to the new Ridgeway model, where the exhaust sweeps underneath the engine first, before rising up.

Speaking of the power unit that’s housed by the Leten LT190; it is a liquid-cooled 188cc single that produces 18.8 bhp at 8,000rpm. This is considerably more than what the Imber 125 would have delivered, had it made its way off the production line.

The reason it failed to reach the market was because the factory was unable to make the Imber 125 comply with European legislation, including Euro5+ emission standards. 

The new Leten LT190 also makes use of a tubular steel, double cradle matrix frame, while the rear suspension features dual five-way adjustable shock absorbers. A single brake disc is found at both ends of the bike, as is dual channel ABS. 

The new bike is described as an “all-scenario utility vehicle” by the manufacturer, meaning it should be comfortable taking on green lanes, back roads, and long weekend trips. Additionally, heated grips are included at no extra cost, which should please UK riders in particular. 

While the company has shared the full details regarding the Leten LT190, specs for the new Ridgeway model remain scarce at this stage. That being said, we do know that the 125cc model will cost customers £2,699. Both motorcycles are already available for pre-order.
