Ducati has revealed initial details of its brand-new DesertX adventure bike, which gets the same 890cc V2 IVT (Intake Variable Timing) engine as the new 2026 Monster.

This is something that many people were expecting after spy shots last month revealed such a project was in the works.

The new DesertX will land in European dealerships from May 2026, before distribution expands to the North American market in June. Japan and Australia will then follow in August 2026.

The 890cc V-Twin engine that’s set to be housed by the new DesertX is also found in the Multistrada V2 and Multistrada V2 S models. Maximum power of the new DesertX will be 110hp (108.4bhp) at 9,000rpm and 67.8 Ib-ft of torque at 7,000rpm.

The new DesertX is also lighter than before, with the Borgo Panigale brand claiming a kerb weight of 206kg without fuel.

Ducati also claims the new DesertX “improves its off-road capabilities thanks to the adoption of advanced suspension with progressive rear linkage”. It will feature a new design compared to previous DesertX models, and while off-road riding might be improved, the new model will be equally at home on the road, according to Ducati.

That’s about all we know thus far about the new DesertX. However, Ducati will be revealing the full list of specifications, details and features of the bike in February 2026.

As well as the new DesertX, Ducati’s 2025 EICMA reveal also showed off the new Desmo250 MX and Desmo450 Enduro bikes, both of which will be available from July 2026, through the Ducati Offroad sales network.

The two off-road specific models will act as siblings to the current Desmo450 MX model, which was first showcased at the 2024 EICMA show.
