Essentially a de-tuned Fireblade with riser bars. Capable and great fun.
Sterile, sounds like a modified dishwasher.

Overall Review

A great bike to ride, easy to ride fast through bends due to decent suspension setup! Comfortable for pillions, Good looks not too many cheap plastic bits, which are starting to appear on new Nakeds i.e. the new Z1000!!!!

Strengths

Looks,Price,Usability,& Reliability

Weaknesses

Only two for ME! the Exhaust could do with looking a bit better and could do with a bit more ground clearance

Overall Review

A truly great bike. If you don't beleive me test ride one and open it up. It's a hoot :)

Strengths

It looks mean like a naked bike should. It has a great 1000cc engine. It's got lower gearing than a Fireblade so it's quick off the mark. It does everything you ask of it in a controlled safe reassuring way. All with legendary Honda quality and reliability. Very good resale values especially for the faster Black model :)

Weaknesses

Standard exhaust is weighty and quite a lot of owners fit after market cans

Overall Review

fantastic pakage, great looks, stunning performance even compared to my 06 cbr1000rr much more enjoyable 99% of the time, dont compare to a sportsbike on a track, thats just a thick practise they are differant bikes for differant ways of riding, please try one you will not be disapointed

Strengths

easy to go at all speeds the handling up to triple figures are just as good and on my fav roads in wales i feel better and in full control just as quick point to point at real rosd conditions, and looks blood fantastic and the rear wheel is PURE ART the whole package is naked agreesion and it lives up to it every time i ride it,

Weaknesses

what do i don,t like hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ok i cant think!! but if pushed the tank as a bar just in side that prevents the nozzle full in and the white colour but its nit picking!!!!!!

Overall Review

Great deal, unless what you want is a tourer to take on the freeway.

Strengths

I've had it for one and a half years and the bike is amazing to ride. I always have a blast through the corners, and even do a bit of touring every now and then. The short gearbox means there's no wrong gear, as it pulls effortlessly from 40 mph in sixth gear. It turns really well and amazingly is a definite improvement on my old '98 hornet, aerodynamics-wise. Perfect for the kind of roads I like, with lots of twisties. Really fun to ride and couldn't be happier.

Weaknesses

Unfortunately, what makes it great is what ends up making it a pin, sometimes. It's hard to take it on the freeway due to little aerodynamic protection and short gearbox. You'll have a hard ime riding it at over 80 mph without putting your head down. The pillion can also have a hard time, due to the hard and slippery seat. I've set up a net around it to prevent the slipping and it helps a LOT.

Great bike, will miss it if I ever sell it.

Strengths

Torque from anywhere you want. Steers by intuition. Who needs countersteering? Sensation of speed due to lack of fairing keeps licence safe. Sweet hydraulic clutch, lovely gear shift. ABS allows you to brake as hard as you like. Clocks look futuristic and great, specially when they turn blue at night. Very easy to ride

Weaknesses

Oiling the chain. no centre stand paint rubbing off frame recalls for rear light/sump/rear brake master cylinder torque setting

Overall Review

This is possibly the best useable bike I've had having had moved through Ducati 900SS, Blackbird, CBR600RR '05. Had to sell CBR600RR following back problems and gone from a bike that I couldn't ride for more than 15mins to something I can ride for hours. Test rode a Street Triple (lovely engine, not convinced about the rest of the bike) and Hornet (nice quality, engine a bit bland / gutless), KTM SuperDuke (not my cup of tea !) and the CB1000R. Found the Honda did everything I asked of it without having to wring its neck especially as my riding would be restricted to purely road from now on. Brakes are very progressive (non-ABS version) and suspension full of adjustment. Bike was priced very competitively when first launched Summer '08 and whilst the list price feels a little high now I haven't made any comparisons to its peers so it might still be OK. No centre stand so basic maintenance needs a little thought before commencing but nothing that can't be sorted with correct stands. I'm aware of two recalls, rear brake / running light failure (unit replaced) and rear master cylinder bolts not torqued correctly (addressed at service. Unsure about fuel economy but getting 120-140 miles for £12 at £1-20 ltr so perfectly respectible for the type of bike. Pillion provision is as poor as the rear seat suggests, get a seat cowl and remove the rear pegs. IXIL end can also highly recommended, looks good and not too loud.

Strengths

Great looking bike, comfortable, easy on your back, tractible motor. Can ride it all day at sensible speeds without any problems.

Weaknesses

Rear wheel throws water all over your back in the wet. Pillion provision is poor. Build quality on the first ones not up to Honda standard though any issues have now been addressed. Paint easily marked.

Overall Review

If this bike had been released a few years ago I would of saved a few quid as I just couldn't settle on the bike for me. Had mine for nearly 2 years now, which is almost a record and I still don't want to sell it. Ride postion is great, no more sports bikes as the wrists and back won't survive another one but the CB1000R gives the thrills up to the legal speed limit and I always come back from a ride with a smile on my face. Now added red to the colour scheme (should of been there in the first place) still missing a nice blue but apart from that: white (my colour), black and either Repsol or HRC colours look the biz.

Strengths

Torque, gives great acceleration and pulls well in almost all gears at low speed. Many mods. Proves you don't have to travel at 150mph to enjoy motorcycling. Good ride position. Lovely looking clocks & different from anything else you've seen.

Weaknesses

Clocks hard to read if sun shinning on it. Hate the fuel filling, bar to stop nozzle going far in. Being picky, had a rear light failure & Honda had to recall early models. Had another recall from Honda to tighten the nut/bolt for the rear brake fluid reservoir.
