The Clarke CBBT1 12V Bluetooth Battery Monitor/Tester and Vehicle Locator is a clever, cheap way of checking your battery – with some bonus features.
If you don’t want the expense of a battery charger but fancy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your battery’s in good condition, a battery monitor or tester is a great solution.

The ‘Clarke CBBT1 12V Bluetooth Battery Monitor/Tester and Vehicle Locator’, to give it its full name, costs just £29.99 and is a small, pocket-sized monitor/tester which works with Bluetooth and an app. Available on Android or Apple, it displays on your phone your vehicle’s real time battery power, voltage and temperature – and even location.
Once the monitor is fitted and the app downloaded and paired, a range of functions are available: The CBBT1 automatically tests the vehicle’s starting and charging systems; sends an alarm notification if the battery is abnormal; and records the route, cost and driving habits of each journey. This can then be exported to an Excel file; saving data such as voltage, charge percentage and temperature every two minutes and storing it for up to 30 days. It even records the last parked position of your vehicle automatically and so is able to provide a ‘finder’ function through your device’s navigation (although this isn’t a ‘live tracking’ function). What’s more, if you’ve numerous vehicles, up two four devices can be monitored at the same time.
