Yamaha has spruced up its 2027 off-road competition range with a series of updates, some of which are model-specific, while the YZ250F gets an all-new engine and chassis.

The four-stroke machine has gained more power and torque compared to its predecessor, although the Japanese company has kept those figures under wraps for now. That being said, we can tell you that the new model has a higher rpm limit by 700rpm. According to Yamaha, the new YZ250F delivers more power and torque across the entire rev range, while it also benefits from an all-new valve system.

The bike’s rocker arms have trickled down from the brand’s flagship superbike, the R1, while the intake valve springs now feature a double-spring design. This is the first time the system has been used on a YZ off-road series model. Additionally, the camshaft has been redesigned with a larger shaft diameter.

The bike’s drivetrain has been overhauled, while some weight reduction has also been achieved. The YZ250F features the same hydraulic clutch as the 2026 YZ450F, which offers more load than before. It also makes use of a model-specific clutch hose.

In terms of the chassis, Yamaha has given its new YZ250F the same frame, suspension and bodywork as Yamaha’s flagship model, the YZ450F. The new off-roader also takes after its bigger sibling with regard to its graphics.

Also updated in a major way is the 2027 YZ85, which gets engine and chassis updates, too. Yamaha says the new bike offers better rideability and reliability than before, while changes to the timing of the Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVS) have been made to produce more power at lower rpm.

The YZ85 is now available in an updated Icon Blue colourway, while also featuring new graphics and a new compact handlebar pad. Yamaha has also introduced a series of changes to its youth racing machine, the YZ65, such as a new handlebar pad, front wheel bearings and seat skin.
