Isle of Man TT star Peter Hickman will be back on the WorldSBK Championship grid this weekend in Most after being called up as the latest substitute for Michael van der Mark in the factory BMW Motorrad squad.

In what has already been a headline-grabbing year for the fan favourite following his four victories at the 2022 Isle of Man TT, Hickman also recently dovetailed his full-time commitments in the British Superbike Championship with a WorldSBK wild-card at Donington Park.

Now Hickman will get a second appearance of the year at Most, though whereas he raced his familiar FHO Racing BMW M 1000 RR at Donington Park, Hickman will be donning a full factory white kit in the Czech Republic.

Partnering fellow Briton Scott Redding, Hickman - who has contested one round previously with BMW WorldSBK in 2019 at Donington Park - is deputising for van der Mark, who is still recovering from a hip injury sustained in May at Estoril.

“After our team debut in the FIM Superbike World Championship last weekend, I’m thrilled that Peter has been asked to represent the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team at Autodrome Most next weekend,” said FHO Racing team manager Faye Ho.

It’s an honour for him to be asked and is a testament to how well respected a rider he is and FHO Racing will be throwing our support behind him and wish him the very best of luck for what looks to be a very exciting opportunity.”

This will be Hickman’s fourth career WorldSBK outing, though his first outside of the UK.
