Former BSB champion and WorldSBK winner finally gets his motorcycle licence
Four-time WorldSBK race winner Alex Lowes has finally completed his motorcycle licence training.

2013 British Superbike champion and four-time WorldSBK race winner, Alex Lowes, has passed his motorcycle licence training test.
While Lowes has been racing on the world stage since 2014, riding on the road was a completely new experience for the British rider.
Organised by Derby Kawasaki, which teamed up with Shires Motorcycle Training, Lowes recently completed his CBT prior to his Module 1 and Module 2 tests.
Lowes underwent his CBT training aboard a Z125 before sticking with Kawasaki machinery for his ‘big bike’ training.

This is not the first time that a successful racer has waited years before undergoing their full motorcycle training. In fact, it is quite regular for racers to wait for long periods of time, while others have gone their full careers without learning how to ride on the road.
Former grand prix and Isle of Man TT racer Danny Webb, aged 35, also passed his motorcycle licence training recently with Suzuki.
Detailing his entire journey from the CBT training to his Mod 2 test, Lowes said:
“So, I can now legally ride a motorcycle. It was a good day, I enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the Mod 2 [training] day. The weather was beautiful which helped.
“Finally out on the road, it was a strange experience for me after racing bikes for all these years. To be on the road and to see all the potential hazards, even though you’re riding a bit slower was a little bit daunting. It was really beneficial for me.”
Lowes, who currently rides for the factory Bimota by Kawasaki WorldSBK Team, will take part in his 14th-straight season in the championship next year.
The former Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki rider will once again be partnered by Axel Bassani, who has been Lowes’ teammate since 2014.
