Ray tops Friday in Donington ahead of Ryde and Jackson | BSB FP1 & 2 Results

While first practice on Friday in Donington for BSB was all-dry, rain arrived mid-way through FP2. But it was Bradley Ray who ended the day on top.

Bradley Ray ended Friday on top at Donington Park as BSB hits the National layout this weekend.

It was Ray’s teammate, Kyle Ryde, who topped the first practice of the day, while Ray was third, but the #28 was faster in the afternoon before rain arrived.

Many riders were able to improve in the afternoon, in fact, even though there was not that much time in FP2 that was dry.

Kyle Ryde was not one of those improvers, but he remained second to make it an OMG Racing 1-2 at the end of the day. The two Yamahas were ahead of Lee Jackson, who in FP2 became the third rider to enter the 1’05s this weekend.

Jason O’Halloran finally has a teammate in 2022, as Tarran Mackenzie has been able to return this weekend. But, while O’Halloran was able to make Q2 qualification overnight in fourth overall, reigning champion Mackenzie finished his first day back in 17th.

Rory Skinner was fifth, but over 0.6 seconds behind Ray, who himself had 0.3 over Ryde. Completing the top six was Glenn Irwin, who was a major improver in FP2, position-wise, and Peter Hickman was seventh.

Danny Kent was the only major improver after the rain in FP2, as he moved up to eighth, ahead of Tommy Bridewell who was ninth and top Ducati after FP2, while Christian Iddon - the first rider to venture out in the wet this afternoon - completed the top 10.

Leon Haslam ended the day in 12th, but also on the floor. He crashed with two minutes of FP2 to go at Craners, bringing out the red flag. Haslam was taken to the medical centre.
