James Ellison stays with Rich Energy OMG Racing in coaching role
BSB veteram James Ellison stays with the Rich Energy OMG Racing team for the 2020 British Superbike Championship in the role of rider coach
James Ellison will remain an active part of the Rich Energy OMG Racing team as its rider coach for the 2020 British Superbike Championship in 2020 after completing a handful of race outings with the team in 2019.
The BSB veteran, who notched up 11 victories during a BSB career that began in 2004, joined the then-Suzuki equipped team for the final three rounds of the 2019 season after stints with Smiths BMW and the Bike Devil Sweda MV Agusta outfit.
Though he wasn’t retained as a race rider for 2020, with OMG Racing instead holding onto Luke Mossey and signing Hector Barbera for its first campaign using BMW S1000RR machinery, Ellison will instead work alongside the riders as a coach.
Set to work with both the Superbike riders and other OMG Racing associated entrants – including those in the Superstock 1000 series – Ellison is looking forward to sharing his vast knowledge and experience.
“I’m really excited to be given the opportunity to stay involved with the team, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them last year especially working alongside Ray Stringer as we are both very analytical when it comes to studying data so hopefully with my experience and knowledge I can help get those last few vital tenths out of both bike and rider. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
As well as this new role, Ellison was also signed up to make his North West 200 debut in 2020 riding a Suzuki before the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis. It has also led to the start of the 2020 BSB racing season to be postponed indefinitely.
