BMW Vision CE patents points to production variant
New patents seem to show a production-ready BMW Vision CE, either proving BMW is making a production model or throwing us way off the scent!

BMW first revealed its Vision CE scoot-with-a-roof at the IAA Mobility show in 2025, and just a year on from then, it looks like those barmy Bavarians might actually be taking it into production.
When the bike first broke cover, it simultaneously looked back at BMW’s past, and the petrol-powered C1 (which featured a weather-beating roof), and BMW’s future, thanks to that all-electric powertrain.
For many, it was a bit of a far-fetched headline grabber, and to most casual observers seemed a bit too extreme to make it to production.
Well, the naysayers could be well off the mark, as BMW has just published patent images registering the bike’s final and possibly production-ready form.

And from going over the pictures with a fine-tooth comb, there don't seem to be a whole lot of changes from the concept bike BMW revealed last year.
The otherworldly, almost moon buggy-a-like design is still present, with the exposed chassis and frame elements still a key feature of the bike.
As is the roof, which in the case of the Vision CE is more of an open roll cage.
And that roll cage is one of the big talking points of this machine. In some regions, that protective shield around the rider and the seatbelts that come with it, allow bikes such as this to be ridden without an approved motorcycle helmet.
Those countries include Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and more – but not the UK.

That lack of legislation in the United Kingdom went some way to stifling sales of the C1 on this side of the channel. We’d have to assume that situation would be much the same for this all-electric reboot.
What the new patent images don’t tell us the the stuff that really matters, especially when talking about a bike in the electric sector.
That means things like maximum range, recharge time, top speed and weight are all under wraps – at least until BMW decides to let us know, which could be sooner than you think.
With EICMA just around the corner, and BMW a big fan of going BIG at Europe’s biggest motorcycle expo, we might be just weeks away from finding out exactly how this funky electric scooter from Germany really shapes up.
