A popular route with bikers has been the scene of a spate of motorbike crashes recently, with police pointing to the presence of roadside snappers as being a prime factor in the rise in crashes.

We’ve all seen them before, photographers camped on the outside of popular biking corners, lenses trained on the road as they snap away at the bikes as they ride past. The pics will find their way onto the company’s website, where the public can select the pictures they want and can buy them via a digital download.

The problem at Fish Hill is that police are linking a spate of serious motorcycle crashes with the presence of the photographers. The police claim that the presence of the snappers is causing people to ride in a dangerous manner, stating that speeding, breaking traffic laws and pulling wheelies is taking place because of their attendance.

Speaking about the issue, Safer Neighbourhood inspector for Wychavon, Dave Wise, said:

“We are taking action to clamp down on these photographers whose presence is, in turn, encouraging a large number of bikers to turn up at Fish Hill, especially on sunny days.

“They are advertising their attendance on local social media pages, stating they will be there to take pictures of the bikers racing up the hill. These adverts can attract hundreds of bikers to Fish Hill in just one day.

“The issue is not only some riders exceeding many traffic laws by the way they ride, such as excess speed, overtaking dangerously and pulling wheelies, but some are even removing their registration plates to avoid detection.”

Worcester News reports that from January 2020 to April 2025, 13 crashes involving motorcyclists have occurred on Fish Hill, near Evesham. It goes on to say that eight of those involved suffered serious injuries, while the other five saw riders suffering mild injuries.

To help reduce that number, the police have now issued the three unnamed photographers with a Community Protection Notice Warning (CPNW). The notice asks them to not attend the area of Fish Hill with the intention of taking pictures of passing motorcycles, banning them from doing so for 12 months.

“We hope these CPNWs will be a first step in deterring the photographers from advertising their presence at the location which in turn will reduce the number of bikers.” Inspector Wise concluded.
