Fermin Aldeguer will remain part of Ducati’s six-rider stable in MotoGP for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, after completing a switch to Valentino Rossi’s VR46 team.

Aldeguer will join the team in 2027 after competing for the Gresini Racing team since his promotion to MotoGP in 2025.

One of the most impressive rookies the series has seen in a long time, Aldeguer was victorious at the Indonesian Grand Prix in 2025, however, the soon-to-be VR46 rider has just one podium to his name so far this season.

Aldeguer’s new deal makes him the first rider to be confirmed at VR46 for the new era of MotoGP, with his team-mate expected to be WorldSBK title favourite Nicolo Bulega.

Aldeguer will join the Rossi-owned team on a two-year deal, which puts him in a perfect position to fight for a factory Ducati seat in 2029.

That’s because Ducati’s 2027 factory pairing of Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta have both been signed on two-year contracts as well.

Aldeguer remains contracted directly to Ducati Corse, which is important to remember on two fronts. It means the Italian manufacturer is placing a lot of faith in Aldeguer becoming one of the stars of MotoGP, while it allows the company to also be flexible with what machinery it gives the young Spaniard.

Gigi Dall'Igna, Ducati Corse General Manager, said this about the renewal with Aldeguer:

"We are very happy to announce the agreement renewal with Fermín for the next two seasons. Since his arrival in MotoGP, he has shown extraordinary talent, a great ability to learn, and a determination that impressed us immediately. He is still a very young rider, but his potential is huge, and we are convinced he has ample room for growth. For this reason, we decided to invest further in him, confirming our faith in a project that clearly looks to the future.

“We believe the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team represents the ideal environment to continue his path. In recent years, the Team has proven its ability to make the most of young talent and to be a truly competitive entity in the Championship. We are certain that here Fermín will have everything he needs to keep growing and achieve major milestones. At Ducati, we strongly believe in his worth.”
