Chinese company Omoway introduces autonomous electric scooter
A scooter that can ride itself onto a stage and reverse without the need of rider-assistance, the new Omo X from Omoway can apparently do both.
Chinese motorcycle company Omoway has unveiled its new autonomous scooter, the Omo X, which drove itself onto stage during its live presentation.
The new Omo X made its debut last month in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the production version is expected to be ready by the end of 2025, although its launch is planned for early 2026.
Indonesia is one of the biggest motorcycle markets in the world, and that’s where the bike will be launched as part of its official arrival.
Featuring a cutting-edge design, the Omo X is loaded with features that give it a premium touch and that are found on modern electric vehicles. The Halo Pilot system enables adaptive cruise control, while it also gets remote summon - a system that lets you operate your vehicle through smartphone connectivity.
It also gets one-touch parking and low-speed self-balancing. Features alone, this scooter reminds you more of a Tesla than a motorcycle, but that’s perhaps the beauty of this new electric scooter.
According to reports, the scooter can reverse autonomously, extend its centre stand automatically and jack itself up. Better yet, it’s supposedly configured to drive without a rider to charging stations, and to arrive in front of the house on demand.
It features collision warning, emergency brake assist with an evasive option, blind spot warning, and it can communicate with other vehicles.
Pricing has not yet been confirmed, although reports say it will cost around €3,500 (£3,000), but the Omo X has been designed specifically for the Asian market, making it unlikely we’ll see it in the UK, at least in the short term.
