New Threat to Japanese Brands from QJMotor is Production Ready
QJMotor’s new SRK 650 R has been type-approved in China and it looks set be a new rival to Japanese middleweight sportbikes

QJMotor’s new SRK 650 R could be heading for production very soon after being type-approved in China.
The new SRK 650 R sportbike, while not officially launched yet, features a look not too dissimilar to the SRK 800 RR model, which currently flies the flag for the Chinese brand’s World Supersport racing team.
The new SRK 650 R looks like it might be a successor to the four-cylinder SRK 600 RC that arrived on the scene back in 2020, before updates were made in 2023.
Unlikely to benefit from the original SRK 600 engine, the new SRK 650 R instead looks set to feature a four-cylinder power unit that’s based on the 778cc SRK 800 RR engine.
From the few details we know about, the 67mm bore figure is the same as the SRK 800 RR, but the reduction in displacement means the engine’s stroke has been dropped from 55.2mm to 46mm.
Thought to be capable of delivering around 115bhp, that sort of figure would put the new SRK 650 R directly in competition with the likes of the Kawasaki ZX-6R which produces 122bhp and Honda’s CBR600RR which is capable of 119bhp at 14,250rpm.
The chassis is also expected to take after the larger SRK 800 RR, with a cast alloy frame and aluminium swingarm. A Marzocchi upside-down fork comprises the front suspension set-up, while Brembo radial-mount four-piston brakes are also onboard.
Unlike the SRK 800 RR race bike, the bodywork on the 650 R is more subtle, with no winglets featured at the front. Instead, it includes side panels fitted on the main fairing for controlled air flow. It also gets a more curved tank than its bigger sportbike sibling, while ABS is also fitted.
