Suzuki launches special edition GSX-8S and GSX-S1000 in Germany

Suzuki Germany is celebrating its 50th anniversary with special edition variants of the GSX-8S and GSX-S1000, both of which receive a unique decal kit.  

The special edition models are limited to just 50 units each, with the GSX-8S gaining a pillion cover and front spoiler as part of its accessory package.

Meanwhile, the GSX-S1000 benefits from a decal kit with many of the same lines, as well as a pillion cover, windscreen and trims on the front and rear wheels.

Mechanically, the two models are unchanged from their siblings, meaning the GSX-8S Special Edition continues to be powered by the same 776cc parallel-twin that produces 82 bhp and 57.5 Ib-ft of torque. 

It also gets the same equipment in the form of a bidirectional quickshifter, three riding modes, three-stage and switchable traction control, ride-by-wire, low-RPM assist, and a modern-looking 5-inch colour TFT display.

The GSX-S1000 Special Edition makes use of a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine that produces 150 bhp and 78 Ib-ft of torque.

It also houses 310mm twin discs and radially mounted four-piston Brembo calipers up front, plus fully adjustable 43mm KYB upside-down forks. 

The suspension setup at the rear includes a central shock featuring seven-way adjustable spring preload and variable rebound adjustment.

Finally, the GSX-S1000 also offers three riding modes, traction control, ride-by-wire and a bidirectional quickshifter.

In terms of retail prices for both models, the smaller GSX-8S will cost customers €9,890 (around £8,500) before tax. 

On the other hand, the more powerful GSX-S1000 is priced at €14,290, which converts to roughly £12,275.
