Dean Harrison ends dominant Oliver’s Mount performance with fifth supersport win
Isle of Man TT winner Dean Harrison continued his fine run of form at Oliver’s Mount, after winning the eight-lap Gold Cup race on Sunday.
Dean Harrison’s stunning record at the home of England’s only road race continued last weekend, with the Honda Racing UK rider securing a five-timer across all four supersport races, and the headline Gold Cup race.
Incidentally, supersport machines were also raced as part of the Gold Cup feature race, although it wasn’t officially titled as a supersport event as was the case in all four races Harrison won prior.
In the end, Harrison completed a five-timer overall, cementing his status as one of the top two road racers in 2026 alongside Michael Dunlop.
The headline race was originally delayed when rain began to fall, however, racing soon got underway around the 2.43-mile course.
Despite the tricky conditions, there would be no difference to the end result as Harrison powered his Honda machine to victory ahead of Mike Browne and Peter Hickman, who managed to narrowly hold off Rob Hodson.
Harrison’s final win of the weekend means he has now racked up 116 wins around the Scarborough venue, although he did face stiff competition during Sunday’s third supersport race in particular.
Hickman initially gained the lead and would go on to hold that position until lap four, when Harrison eventually regained the position.
The Honda Racing UK rider, who won both the Superbike and Senior races at this year’s Isle of Man TT, took the checkered flag 3.447s clear of Hickman.
That was the second smallest margin that Harrison took victory by, after winning the final supersport-branded race of the event by 3.198s from Tom Weeden.
Although he was unable to beat Harrison in any of the five races, Hickman managed to claim podiums in all five starts.
This year’s Gold Cup 80th Anniversary event will best be remembered for Harrison’s dominant performances, but it did also mark the return to action for Hickman’s 8TEN Racing team-mate Davey Todd, who was competing in a road race for the first time since suffering injuries at the Daytona 200 in March.
