QJ Motor reported to be working on 95bhp 2027 X Adventure 900 maxi-scooter
The adventure scooter segment could have a new challenger in 2027, as QJ Motor is reported to be working on a new adventure scooter.
QJ Motor could be looking to bolster its range in 2027, with the niche-looking X Adventure 900 maxi scooter rumoured to be getting a launch next year.
The news comes from multiple reports that QJ is taking its 900cc parallel twin, the same engine found in the SRT 900 and SRK 900, and grafting it into a machine that looks like a halfway house between a TMAX and an X-ADV.

Whether that is true or not isn’t clear, as there is no official announcement from QJ on the matter. The images released by multiple sources in China and Europe, also show the X Adventure with an engine that is visually very different to the one found in the existing bikes in the QJ range.
Should it indeed come to fruition, and with that engine, the bike could produce around 90bhp, making it one of the most powerful maxi-scooters on the market.
Honda’s X-ADV makes around 47bhp, while Yamaha’s class-leading TMAX manages the same. Leading the pack is the wild-looking Italjet Draster 700, which is claimed to produce 67bhp from its 698cc parallel twin-cylinder engine.
The use of the engine does raise some eyebrows, thanks to the overall size of the thing. The QJ 900 isn’t what you’d call compact, sitting tall and wide in the frame of the aforementioned SRT 900.
To make that engine fit in a bike like a maxi scooter is going to require some seriously clever packaging and design, or a new unit entirely.
Should it indeed become a new model for 2027, we’ll likely get our first glimpse of it at EICMA later this year, as the presence of the Chinese motorcycle industry at the event grows ever more vast.
