Alpinestars has expanded its Supertech helmet range with the launch of the Supertech R7 (S-R7), a full-face road helmet designed for road riding and track days. It sits below the existing S-R10 in the Italian brand’s helmet line-up and combines a multi-composite shell with a range of features aimed at impact protection, ventilation and fit adjustment.

The S-R7 uses a shell made from carbon fibre, aramid and fibreglass, bonded with pre-preg epoxy resin. It is homologated to ECE 22.06 and US DOT standards, with a medium-sized helmet weighing a claimed 1,390g.

Inside, the helmet uses a multi-density EPS liner made from seven sections across six densities, with three outer shell sizes used to accommodate different head sizes. Alpinestars has also incorporated its patented PLASMA technology, which uses a low-friction surface intended to help reduce rotational forces during an impact. The company claims the helmet exceeds the ECE 22.06 peak rotational acceleration standard by 80 per cent.

The shell incorporates recesses around the collarbone area, housing PLASMA inserts designed to help absorb energy during an impact or slide. Alpinestars has also developed the helmet in a wind tunnel, with an integrated rear spoiler and lateral winglets intended to improve aerodynamic stability and reduce drag at speed.

Ventilation comes from 10 ports, comprising six intakes and four exhausts. Three chin vents and three upper vents feed air into the helmet, while the chin vents also direct airflow towards the visor to help reduce fogging. The upper vent mechanism slides open to expose three internal air channels.

The visor is an ECE 22.06-homologated Optical Class 1 unit with double-sided anti-scratch treatment. It has a tool-free quick-release mechanism and comes with a Pinlock 120 MaxVision anti-fog insert.

Another feature is Alpinestars’ A-Head fitment system, which allows riders to adjust the helmet’s height and angle using a micro-adjustable pad connected to the EPS liner.

The removable, washable lining includes antimicrobial-treated fabrics, while the cheek pads feature channels for eyewear, an emergency release system and provision for a hydration tube.

The S-R7 is also ready for Alpinestars’ A-Connect communication system, which includes Mesh 3.0 intercom technology and Harman Kardon speakers.

The helmet is now available in Europe through authorised Alpinestars dealers and online. Solid colours include matte black, gloss black, gloss grey and gloss white, alongside A-Core, Zeal, Kinetis and Lumen graphic designs.

Each helmet comes with a clear visor, Pinlock 120 MaxVision insert, breath deflector, chin curtain and storage bag.
