New QJ Motor SRK 125 R1 boast 15bhp and winglets
Looking like they’ll be about as effective as a chocolate teapot, the new QJ Motor SRK 125 R1 brings aerodynamic winglets to the 125cc sports bike segment.

If I were to write a list of pointless two-wheeled things, I’d have to say that aerodynamic winglets on motorcycles in the 15bhp region would be somewhere near the top of the page. QJ Motor is helping me to write that list today, after it debuted its SRK 125 R1, which, you guessed it, features a set of relatively aggressive, and completely pointless-looking, winglets protruding from the fairing.

Looking like they’ll do more damage to the fuel economy than anything else, the winglets were first revealed to the world at the Canton Fair in April, and had it not been for the plastic fantastic stuff hanging from the front of the bike, the rest of it looks pretty good.
It’s said to make bang on the CBT limit of 15bhp, which is always good, and the claimed kerb weight for the bike is a pithy 144kg with fuel and fluids, putting it bang on par with bikes like the Yamaha R125 (141kg wet with fuel) and the KTM RC125, which is 147kg ready to race ride. It’s got USD forks, seems to be shod with four-pot brakes and has an accommodating 785mm seat height. It should also be as cheap as chips, given that it's a QJ and its bikes generally undercut the competition by a fair chunk.

In fact, had it not been for the winglets grafted to the front end “because race bike”, it’d actually look okay too.
No mention of if or when this model will be making it to the UK, although with QJ bolstering its presence both here and in Europe, and the previous generation SRK 125 R featuring in the UK range, we wouldn’t bet against this model heading over here soon.
