A rider who has not yet been named, has tragically passed away following a qualifying incident involving a second rider at the Manx Grand Prix.

The incident took place on the first lap of Tuesday evening’s second qualifying session, at Cruickshanks, Ramsey. The session was immediately red flagged as a result of the accident.

One of the competitors suffered “minor” injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Noble’s Hospital, according to organisers of the MGP. However, the second rider tragically sustained fatal injuries.

A statement from the organisers said:

"On the first lap of the second qualifying session of the 2026 Manx Grand Prix Races, an incident occurred at Cruickshanks, Ramsey, involving two competitors. The session was immediately red flagged.

"It is with profound sadness that the Manx Grand Prix Races confirms that one competitor sustained fatal injuries. A second competitor was reported as having sustained minor injuries and is receiving treatment at Noble's Hospital.

"In accordance with the event’s standard operating procedures a multi-agency investigative process is now underway. The Manx Grand Prix Races would like to thank the marshals, medical teams, emergency services, Manx Care and all personnel that supported the response to today’s incident.

"Our thoughts are with the competitors, family and friends of those involved, who have asked for privacy at this time. A further update will be issued in due course."

The 2026 Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT will continue today with the first contingency session set to be used. This decision has been taken due to limited running over the last two evenings, after all of Monday’s sessions were cancelled due to poor weather conditions on the Isle of Man.
