With a little splash of colour, a bit of special history, and tons of character; Triumph unveil the special editions due for the Street Twin, Thruxton RS and Rocket 3 R & GT over the next year.
There are 3 (or four if you count the two Rocket models separately) special edition models ready to land in Triumph dealers from December 2021. Each has its own story and style, and gives you the chance to add a touch more cool to your Sunday bike-meet ride out.
Following the launch of the Gold Line specials, let’s run through each of the three models, and what they’re bringing to the table.
Triumph Street Twin EC1 Edition
First up is a limited edition version of the biggest selling Triumph modern classic: the Street Twin EC1 Edition.
Inspired by the vibrant motorcycle culture in East London, the EC1 Edition introduces a unique paint scheme to reflect the historic East End of the capital, and the youthful & modern (read: hipster) biker culture that has emanated from within.
A Matt Aluminium Silver and Matt Silver Ice fuel tank is finished with a hand-painted silver coach lining, side panels and new EC1 graphic - along with the rest of the Bonneville updates for 2021. You can secure the Street Twin EC1 for a calendar year from December 2021 - it’s £600 up on the base price.
Triumph Thruxton RS Ton Up Edition
Next up to the table is the Thruxton RS Ton Up. Self-titled as the ultimate cafe racer, the Thruxton RS benefits from a timeless and classic bloodline, infused with influence from the ‘Ton-Up Boys’ of the 1950s and 60s.
Celebrating the ostensible birth of the cafe racer, the Ton-Up edition carries all of the Thruxton’s performance, capability and heritage - it was the first production 100mph lap on the Isle of Man TT in 1969, don't you know.
Adding an Aegean Blue fuel tank with jet black knee pad graphics, a Fusion White seat cowl with ‘100 Special Edition’ graphic and finished with hand-painted coach lining, this special model will be available from December 2021 for an additional £800 from the base price.
Also, whilst we're here, shout-out to the photos from this special edition launch. The Ton Up edition being at the Ace Cafe, where it all began, is a lovely touch. The Street Twin EC1 is actually in EC1 (in fact we've had a few lunchtime pints there at the Visordown office!). The Rocket pair are on a rooftop in London.
Triumph Rocket 3 R & 3 GT 221 Edition
Finally, we have the Rocket 3 R & GT 221 Edition - named after the outrageous 221 Nm of peak torque that these can provide from the largest production engine on the planet.
In fact, Triumph is so proud of the spec on this model, that they have inscribed the tank with the model spec - which would be incredibly handy for review purposes.
The 221 Editions both feature the Red Hopper fuel tank and front mudguard, with Sapphire Black features on the rear mudguard, flyscreen, bodywork and fascia.
Again available for one year from December 2021, the Rocket 3 duo will be priced at an additional £900 for the 221 Edition.
Whilst some may be yearning for a brand new model series from Triumph, you'd be a fool to not see how much Triumph has going on in the background.
With upcoming launches of the new Speed Triple 1200 RR, Tiger Sport 660, and launch of the Tiger 1200 (2022), there is even its exploration into the motocross segment all add to an ever-increasing model line-up for the largest manufacturer in Britain.
