TEASED over the course of months through rumours, ‘Revival’ name EPA filings, and silhouetted glimpses, the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Revival will now be the first of a series of ‘Icons Collection’ motorcycles.

Speaking of the Icons Collection, Jochen Zeitz, Harley-Davidson CEO, says:

“Icons will be extraordinary adaptations of production motorcycles which look to our storied past and bright future.”

Each selected icon from the Milwaukee firms celebrated past will be resurrected in a 1,500-unit limited run, with a duo of icons selected per year.

At the start of the year we saw images of Revival scrawled on a tank, and now that image has been updated to include ‘Electra Glide’ in the space above - something that was doctored out of the first image. Good eyes, Motorcycle.com.

Squint in to the sun of the silhouette (not the real sun though, don’t do that) and you can make out the Electra Glide Standard features, with batwing fairing, massive front fender and big blocks at the back (the pannier cases) - but squint harder and you notice the spoked wheels (on what seems to be Fat tyres), additional trim on the fender, and a flatter seat with that Electra Glide grab rail.

Despite a retro theme, the Revival will be no doubt powered by the latest Milwaukee-Eight 114 motor, the new engine unit which powers the latest range of American muscle.

As mentioned, there’ll be up to two icons selected per year for ‘Revival’. For this year all signs are pointing at a Revolution Max powered Custom 1250 to be created - although the final name has yet to be confirmed. All we know so far is the marketing spiel “Expand within the cruiser segment,” and “redefine the premium middleweight cruiser segment.” alongside the single image.

We can expect the Electra Glide Revival to be presented on Monday the 26th of April. No doubt a good way to test aspects of their Hardwire approach to continue a positive start to 2021
