Kawasaki Z1100 Revealed in CARB Filing
A document on the California Air Resources Board points to a new Kawasaki Z1100 landing in the not too distant future

Kawasaki looks set to revive one of its most loved models, as documents filed in America point to a return of the legendary Z1100 super naked.
The paperwork was published in the California Air Resources Board (CARB), a database of machines that notes how many pollutants are emitted while they are in use. Of the four bikes listed on the document, it’s just the last one which has spiked our attention. The bike is listed on as the ZR1100HT, which, if we look back on Kawasaki’s previous nomenclature, leads us to a Z1100 model - the 2003 Z1000 had the code name ZR1000-A1, 2004 was ZR1000-A2, and so on.

The document gives little else away, besides the bike has a recorded equivalent inertia mass of 370kg, an engine capacity of 1,099cc, and is fed by a sequential fuel injection system. Sharing the listing on the CARB website are three other bikes, all with identical listing details to those mentioned above. They are the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX and Ninja 1100SX SE, and the Versys 1100 SE.
What we can’t tell you is what the new bike will look like, or what it’s performance specs will be. While the Versys gained some grunt when it upgraded to 2025, 1100cc spec, the Ninja 1100 took a slight hit. Given that the new Z1100 would be diving headfirst into the hyper-competitive super naked segment, alongside bikes like the Yamaha MT-10 and Suzuki GSX-S1000, we’d expect Kawasaki to try and get every last ounce of performance from the updated inline four-cylinder.
We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for more information.
