Seven-year wait for compensation after man is left seriously injured
A MALE PEDESTRIAN has been awarded a substantial compensation figure for injuries sustained after he was hit by a motorbike while crossing the road.
Brian Agard was hit by a motorcycle as he crossed the road in Oldham, Lancashire in 2003, suffering life-changing injuries, including a shattered left leg that was later amputated below the knee. To compound his misfortune, he is now blind and with brain damage following post-operative complications.
The victim now needs round-the-clock care in his specially-adapted home.
Mr Agard was awarded a payment of £2.7 million, with an additional payment of £128,000 per annum.
The motorcyclist, Lee Marcus Horrocks, has since been convicted of dangerous driving.
